Match My Project (“Match My Project,” “we,” “us”) is operated by Inspired Design LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit our website, fill out one of our forms, or respond to our ads, how we use it, who we share and sell it to, and the choices and rights you have, including under California law.
The short version
- We collect the information you give us about you and your home project, plus basic device and browsing data.
- We share your contact and project details with the contractor you ask to be matched with, or up to three contractors if you choose to compare prices. Contractors pay us for these referrals, which California law treats as a sale of personal information.
- You can opt out of the sale or sharing of your information at any time on our Do Not Sell or Share page.
- We never share your text-message opt-in or consent with third parties for their marketing.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact details: your name, mobile phone number, email address, and ZIP code, and your street address if you provide it.
- Project details: the type of work you need, when you want to start, whether you own the home, whether you want to compare prices from more than one contractor, and any description you write.
- Communications: your calls, texts, and emails with us, including your answers when we contact you to confirm your request. We may record calls for quality and compliance, and we will tell you at the start of any call that is recorded.
- Consent records: when you agree to be contacted, we save the date and time, the page you were on, your IP address and browser type, and the exact consent wording you saw, so we can show what you agreed to.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser and device type, pages you view, the ad or link that brought you to us, and how you interact with our site.
- Approximate location: general location derived from your IP address or ZIP code. We do not collect precise geolocation.
Information from others
- Advertising platforms: if you submit a form inside an ad on Facebook, Instagram, or Google, that platform sends us the information you entered.
- Contractors: contractors may tell us whether they reached you and the status of your request, so we can improve our matching and handle referral disputes.
We do not ask for sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, or health information. Please don’t include it in the project description.
2. How we use your information
- To understand your project and match you with a contractor who does that type of work in your area.
- To contact you by phone, text, or email to confirm your request and help schedule an estimate.
- To send your request to the matched contractor or contractors.
- To respond to your questions and provide customer support.
- To measure and improve our ads, website, and matching.
- To detect duplicate, fraudulent, or abusive submissions.
- To keep records of your consent and requests, and to comply with the law.
3. How we share and sell your information
Contractors you are matched with
When you submit a request, we share your name, phone number, email, ZIP code or address, and project details with the contractor matched to your request. If you choose to compare prices, we share it with up to three contractors. Contractors pay us a fee for each referral. Under California law, this exchange counts as a sale of personal information. Contractors are independent businesses, and once they receive your information, their own privacy practices apply to it.
Service providers
We use companies that help us run our business, such as website hosting, phone and text-message delivery, email, customer-records software, and analytics. They may use your information only to provide services to us, under contracts that limit their use.
Advertising partners
We use advertising tools from companies such as Meta and Google to show our ads and measure their results. These tools collect device and browsing information from our site, which California law may treat as sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. See Cookies and ad tracking.
Other disclosures
We may also disclose information to comply with law or legal process, to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger, sale, or transfer of our business.
4. Text messages
If you agree to receive text messages from us, we use your number to send messages about your project request, such as confirming your request and helping schedule an estimate. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.
Text messages from Match My Project are optional and separate from your request to be matched. You can get matched without agreeing to texts from us.
Mobile information, including your text-message opt-in data and consent, will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-message opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third party for any purpose, except the service providers that deliver our messages on our behalf. Separately, the contact details you submit are provided to the contractor or contractors you asked to be matched with, only so they can respond to your project request.
5. California disclosures

We collect this information for the purposes listed in How we use your information. We do not collect or use sensitive personal information for the purpose of inferring characteristics about you. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.
6. Your California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it, and who we disclosed it to, and get a copy of it.
- Delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions, such as keeping records of your consent.
- Correct inaccurate personal information about you.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
How to make a request. To see, delete, or correct your information, email us at support@matchmyproject.net with the subject line “California privacy request” and tell us which right you want to use. To opt out of sale or sharing, submit a request on our Do Not Sell or Share page.
Verification. To protect your information, we will confirm your identity by matching the phone number or email address you used with us, for example by sending a code. We will respond within 45 days, and will tell you if we need more time, as the law allows. An authorized agent may make a request for you with your written permission, and we may ask you to confirm your identity directly.
Shine the Light. California residents may also ask whether we disclosed personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes in the prior calendar year. Send that request to support@matchmyproject.net.
7. Opting out of sale or sharing
You can opt out at any time on our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page. Once you opt out, we will stop selling or sharing your personal information from that point forward. Opting out does not undo a referral that was already sent to a contractor at your request; you can contact that contractor directly to ask them to stop contacting you.
Global Privacy Control. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of sale and sharing for that browser and any information we can connect to it, and we will display that your opt-out request has been honored.
8. Cookies and ad tracking
We use cookies, pixels, and similar tools, including the Meta Pixel and Google Analytics and Google Ads tags, to remember your form progress, understand how our site is used, and measure our ads. When you send a request, we may also send Meta and Google a hashed (scrambled) version of your email or phone number through their conversion tools so they can tell us which ads led to requests. They do not receive your project details. If you opt out of sale or sharing, we stop sending this information. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as well. Other than honoring the GPC signal described above, our site does not respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals.
9. How long we keep information
- Project requests and consent records: up to 5 years after your last request, so we can show proof of your consent and resolve disputes.
- Call recordings and text-message records: up to 2 years.
- Website analytics and advertising data: up to 26 months.
- Records of privacy requests and opt-outs: at least 24 months, as California law requires.
We may keep information longer if the law requires it or to resolve a legal claim.
10. Children, security, and changes
Children. Our services are meant for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security. We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encrypted connections, encryption of stored information, limited staff access with multi-factor sign-in, and monitoring for misuse. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as the law requires.
Changes. We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and change the “Last updated” date above. If we make material changes, we will provide additional notice where the law requires it.
